Second Look Exhibition Opening

Join us for the opening reception of Second Look, an exhibition featuring works by artists Darla Jackson, Gina Michaels, and Jen Blazina. Bringing together threads in each of these artists’ sculptural works, the exhibition weaves a space of comedy, lightness, and enchantment. Darla, Gina, and Jen share a sensibility that evokes a range of fantastical ideas, unexpected worlds, and a subtle, intuitive, but bravely feminist agenda. Each of their pieces requires a double take and is complicated with additional layers in relationship to each other. The overlapping inspiration from nature is the artists’ shared language, along with their materials and particularly spatial and object-based approach. But when the work settles in, a more complicated reality emerges. A satiric criticality aimed often at patriarchal structures, biases, assumptions, and molds, comes through in each artist’s sensibility and vision.
