Stop Kiss

Written by Diana Son

Directed by Leigh and Lauri Jacobs

Nov. 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 29, 30, Dec. 1

Callie and Sara are two young women making their way in New York City--one as a radio traffic reporter, the other as a third-grade teacher in the Bronx. Although each woman is “straight”, they develop an unspoken attraction, and when they share a first kiss in Central Park, a bystander attacks them viciously, transforming their lives in a way they could never have anticipated. The play alternates between the aftermath of the attack and the relationship preceding it, inviting the audience to wonder…

Why did this happen to these two women?

The Philadelphia Story

Written by Philip Barry

Directed by Noël Hanley

Jan. 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 24, 26

It’s the 1930s, the Golden Age of High Society in and around Philadelphia, and Tracy Lord is society’s darling. She has it all; youth, beauty, wealth, and a handsome fiancé with a bright future in politics. But, as the hours tick down to her nuptials, her dashing and charming ex-husband and an attractive and interesting reporter arrive to make Tracy question what she really wants in a man… and why she’s about to marry a priggish snob! Will she go through with the wedding as planned?

The play was made into a famous film starring Katherine Hepburn, and is modeled on a well known local family with whom the playwright was very familiar.

Keely and Du

Written by Jane Martin

Directed by Scott R. Grumling & T. Patrick Ryan

Mar. 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22

Du, a right-to-life activist, and Keely, a pregnant rape victim, transcend their circumstances and the ideological issues that separate them. A Pulitzer Prize finalist for Drama, Keely and Du is a mind-probing issue play with a gripping human face. Who is accountable? What is the extent of individual freedom? What are a rape victim’s rights? What are a Christian’s realities of procreation? The passionate and gripping story of these two women exists on the extreme edge of everyday reality.

Pro-Life?  Pro-Choice?  Are you sure?

The Understudy

Directed by Robert Bauer

May 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17

Harry is a serious but under-employed actor who disdains Hollywood’s obsession with big-budget action movies. Josh is a highly-paid Hollywood action star making his Broadway debut. Harry has just been hired as Josh’s understudy. Their first rehearsal together is being run by Roxanne, the stage manager, who just happens to have a history with Harry. What could go wrong?

Behind every great star is a great actor hoping the great star will get sick.
