Class Description: New to ceramics and wheel throwing? This introductory class is perfect for those just starting out their journey in this wonderful art form. You will develop a strong wheel-throwing technique, including basic centering and pulling and trimming. A variety of surface decorating techniques will be introduced. Group discussion and individual feedback will be provided. Bring your own ideas, or work along with the class with weekly projects.

About the Instructor:
Robin Williams Turnage is currently an Associate Artist at The Clay Studio as well as a teacher of Traditional Nigerian and Ghanaian Pottery with Jihan Thomas at Fleisher.
Robin’s art has always reflected an African aesthetic. Currently, she is working in the production of porcelain tableware with an African influence.
Robin has exhibited her work more actively in recent years in places like the gallery at The Clay Studio, Fleisher, The Colored Girls Museum, and with The Drummond Art Legacy.
