Visitor Services and Exhibitions Coordinator

The Visitor Services and Exhibitions Coordinator serves as the welcoming face of Allens Lane Art Center, supporting daily operations, guest engagement, administrative needs, and a robust exhibitions program. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with the public, has strong organizational skills, and thrives in a community-focused environment.

Reports to: Director of Operations

Pay, benefits: $15/per hour

Work schedule, hours: 20 hours/week. Tuesday – Friday, 1 -6 pm.

Primary Responsibilities

Visitor Services

  • Greet and assist walk-in visitors and scheduled guests, providing tours of the facility.
  • Manage walk-in class registrations and assist with enrollment inquiries.
  • Provide backup phone and email coverage as needed.
  • Distribute class materials and assist with classroom setup for evening programs.
  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment, scheduling, and support.
  • Organize and archive ALAC program and administrative materials.
  • Support administrative tasks and special projects.

Exhibitions

  • Coordinate with exhibiting artists on installation of artwork.
  • Assist artists with installation process.
  • Assist Executive Director with curation of artwork.
  • Create exhibitions consignment contracts.
  • Create printed materials for exhibitions, labels, price lists, information packets.
  • Attend all opening receptions and assist with set up of food and beverages.

Qualifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; enjoys engaging with diverse community members.
  • Experience with handling and installing artwork.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Comfortable with basic computer tasks (email, data entry, registration systems).
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Previous experience in customer service, visitor services, or arts administration a plus.

Work Environment: This position is primarily in-person at Allens Lane Art Center. Hours are Tuesday–Friday, 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM, with occasional weekends for special events or programming.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour
