All characters are Black/African American. They may also be played by someone who identifies as African, Caribbean, Mixed-Race, or otherwise aligning with the African diaspora.
Synopsis: Circa 1970. Max’s barbershop is a staple in this small country town. Within the walls of the barbershop, Black men can exist with one another in relative comfort. Within the walls of the barbershop, romantic plans are discussed, dreams are born, and bets are made. That is, until Ima Jean, one of the town’s most popular women, passes away. Rumors begin to rise in the barbershop about her abandoned son, Choice, who has escaped the law to come to town. Rumor has it that he wasn’t that close to his momma. Rumor has it that he’s looking for his daddy. Rumor has it that he’s heading towards the barbershop… It’s clear that joy isn’t the only thing being protected within the walls; there are secrets. Now there’s a new bet on the table — who is Choice’s father? And what’s going to happen to him when Choice finds out…
