Auditions

Allens Lane Art Center, under the direction of Joel Rosenwasser will hold auditions for its non-union production of Crossing Delancey on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Allens Lane Theater at 601 W Allens Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19119.

Production dates are Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from April 25 through May 10th, with rehearsals beginning in late January.

The company seeks performers for the following roles:

BUBBIE – Ida Kanter, a fiesty, sharp-witted Jewish woman who immigrated to the United States as a young girl and has lived ever since in the shrinking community of New York City known as the Lower East Side.  Outspoken, warm, loving, humorous, strong-minded, storyteller, may have a yiddish accent. Late 60s – 80s

ISABELLE – ISABELLE – “Izzy” Grossman, Bubbie’s granddaughter, in her late twenties, a bookish dreamer.  Rebellious, independent, intellectual.  Possible New York accent.  Mid 20s – early 30s

HANNAH MANDELBAUM – A professional matchmaker, wheeler-dealer, bossy, nosy, hungry, talkative, persuasive. 50s or 60s, possible New York accent.

SAM POSNER – A pickleman and a poet, an inhabitant of the Lower East Side, in his early thirties, gentle, intuitive, appealing and very wise for his years.  New York accent. Late 20s –  mid 30sA pickleman and a poet, an inhabitant of the Lower East Side, in his early thirties, gentle, intuitive, appealing and very wise for his years.  New York accent. Late 20s –  mid 30s

TYLER MOSS – A well-known writer of fiction, handsome, exceedingly charming and self-involved.  Late 30s – late 40s

Performers should be prepared to read from sides, or selected pages from scenes of the play. To find the sides and prepare for your audition, visit the link below and click on any PDFs that have the character’s name in it. All auditions will be grouped auditions, and there will be people in the room to read for other roles in your scene! Visit this link.

Auditions are by appointment only. All performers will be considered for all roles and no role is promised to anyone before official offers are made. All ages, races, and backgrounds are encouraged to audition! The Allens Lane Theater is located at 601 W. Allens Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19119. Callbacks will be January 23rd by invitation only.
